Originally designed by Dave Thomas and opened in 1998 with the latest nine added in 2001 Almenara boasts 27 holes in a spectacular layout close to the Almenara hills with stunning views. The course is located in upper Sotogrande, 500 metres from Valderrama Golf Club. Surrounded by cork trees and Autochthonous pine, the course is crossed by several streams and these, in addition to the natural lake, combine to create the beauty of the course. The three nines are called Los Pinos, Los Alcornoques and Los Lagos. Courses are made up as A (Los Pinos and Los Alcornoques) B (Los Alcornoques and Los Lagos) C (Los Lagos and Los Pinos) this enables them to
rotate and keep their courses in immaculate condition.
Each course is different with the deep bunkers, several water hazards and a mixture of undulating fairways. The greens are always in superb condition, which makes Almenara excellent for all handicaps which also includes a challenge for the low handicaps as well.
